Panel Discussion - CEO's View of HR

In this month’s meeting we will hear from a panel of HR leaders who have risen to senior operational roles in their organizations.  We will hear how HR and operational leadership differ – or perhaps are the same.  We will also hear how HR leadership prepared them for operational roles.  Through Q&A, we will explore the strategic role of HR in leading organizations.

The Participants

Valerie Gifford:  Valerie is the Senior Vice President, Retail Operations for Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union (TVFCU)

In her career Valerie has worked in various operational and HR roles.  In 2000, she began her second time at TVFCU as a VP in HR before her promotion to her current operational position in 2016 where she is responsible for branch operations and e Services, call center, live studio, consumer lending, mortgage lending, and HR.   Valerie is a former President of SHRM Chattanooga and the former Director of Tennessee SHRM State Council.

Rebecca Harmon:  Rebecca is the Chief Administrative Officer for DeRoyal

Rebecca is the Chief Administrative Officer for DeRoyal, a global medical products manufacturer headquartered in Powell, TN.  In her operational roles she is responsible for quality and regulatory, IT, marketing, engineering, as well as HR.  Rebecca has served as President of TN Valley Human Resources Association and is the current Director of Tennessee SHRM State Council.
