Membership Types

Professional Member*

Professional membership includes those individuals who are engaged as one or more of the following:

  1. Practitioners of human resources at the exempt level for at least three years
  2. Certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute and/or Society for Human Resource Management
  3. Faculty members holding an assistant, associate or full professor rank in human resource field or any of its specialized functions at an accredited college or university and have at least three years of experience at this level of teaching
  4. Full-time consultants with at least three years of experience practicing in the field of human resources
  5. Full-time attorneys with at least three years of experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the human resource profession

Associate Member

Associate members include those individuals in non-exempt human resource management positions as well as those individuals who do not meet the qualifications of other classes of membership, but who demonstrate a bona fide interest in the human resource profession and the mission of the Chapter. 

Student Member

Student members are individuals who are:

  1. Enrolled either as a full-time or part-time student (freshman and above)
  2. Enrolled in the equivalent of at least six (6) credit hours
  3. Enrolled in a four-year or graduate institution and/or a consortium of these or a two-year community college with a matriculation agreement between it and a four-year college or university which provides automatic acceptance of the community college students into the four-year college or university
  4. Able to provide verification of a demonstrated emphasis in human resources
  5. Able to provide verification of the college or university’s human resource or related degree program

*Only Professional Members may vote or hold office in the Chapter.

Chapter membership is based on individual eligibility and is non-transferrable.

Individual Payment Option

*Payment is only due for monthly meetings in which you register.

Single Payment Option

The single payment option allows you to pay in advance for your annual membership dues and all monthly meetings.  SHRM Chattanooga generally has 9 meetings per year, including two extended meetings.  This option is only available for Professional and Associate members.  By taking advantage of paying for your annual dues and all monthly meetings at once, members can save up to $143 per year!


Here’s how it works:

  • Choose the single payment option when joining or renewing your membership
  • When registering for monthly meetings, choose to apply the voucher prior to submission.
  • This will bring your invoice balance for each meeting to $0.00.


Online reservations are still required for each monthly meeting.  Refunds will not be available for unused vouchers at the end of the year.  Vouchers may be used for standard and extended monthly chapter meetings and are not available for chapter conferences or other special events.  Vouchers are unique to each member and cannot be shared with other members.
