Workforce Development

Requesting Volunteers!

The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management Chattanooga Chapter, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Chattanooga State Community College, and Hamilton County Department of Education, is in its 11th year of helping youth ages 14-18 gain job-ready skills, such as work values, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills and more. Professional volunteers all over Hamilton County have visited classrooms to educate youth about their industry and how to present themselves in a professional setting.

As you may know, a new school year is underway and we are looking for volunteers to help us deliver Get A Job presentations to area sophomores. In this training session you will learn how to deliver the program as well as tips and tricks for keeping the students engaged during your presentation. Even if you have been a Get a Job volunteer in the past, we recommend that you still attend this training to see what has been added for the new school year.

The Get A Job program prepares 10th graders in finding and keeping employment by focusing on job skills needed for the 21st century, interviewing skills, completing applications and dressing for success. Volunteers deliver the program at all Hamilton County high schools during the academic year.

BelFlex Junior Mentoring Program

Mock Interviews

BelFlex Staffing has partnered with Howard School to implement our Junior Mentoring Program to assist those entering the job market with gaining soft skills that will better enable them to find, gain, and keep employment. Part of the BelFlex Junior Mentoring Program (BJMP) will be mock interviews with Chattanooga-area professionals, as this is a tremendous opportunity for these students to put into practice the training and education they have been offered in the program.

Mock interviews have been scheduled for Thu. 4/20/17 at Howard School. There are two time slots that the interviews will take place in, the first at 10:30AM, and the second at 2:15PM.  Both slots are one-hour commitments, during which each interviewer will conduct approximately five minute interviews with each of nine students.

If you are interested in participating in these mock interviews, and working with the incoming workforce in the Chattanooga area, please contact Felix Miller at BelFlex Staffing – phone is (423) 892-4474, and email is If you would like to find other ways to participate in the program, please feel free to contact me about that as well.
